In my opinion, everybody should do something to contribute to their community in the modern society, for no one can remain isolated in this world, for the human beings are born gregarious animals. In this case, there are many ways to show the love. Tycoons choose to donate a lot of money to the foundations to allocate the fortune for the needed ones. Soldiers decide to risk their own lives to protect the nation and its people. But what are we talking about when we mention university's clubs? Openly speaking, there are many things they could do. Volunteer in the nearby primary schools as a teacher to help them do better in their schoolwork, visit the local nursing home to assist the seniors with their daily tasks, or help the homeless persons to build a place so they can survive the bitingly cold winter. If I am a member of the club, I will encourage my peers to do the third one, and the following reasons and examples can demonstrate why I think it is the most important and helpful one.
I have to say that by stating the third one is the most important one, I do not deny the help of the other two events. They are also important. Helping students will make their family more harmonious and assisting the elderly people can make them receive the attention due. Nevertheless, when we talk about homeless persons, the problem is not simply happiness or satisfaction. It is all about life. As a person from Heilongjiang, I have witnessed a heart-breaking story in my hometown. It was early January 2009, the coldest month in the coldest year it ever was in the last fifty years. The Chinese New Year also happened to be in January, so most of the people left the city for home. That was how the tragedy happened: a beggar could not afford a house, so he typically lived outside of the stores or malls where the temperature is higher, but there were no opening stores because it was the new year. The beggar had to sleep in the park. When people found him on the bench in the park, he had already died of the freezing weather. Seeing that story, I believe that building houses for the homeless is not a bonus, but a necessity in our society, for it is related to their lives.
Moreover, building houses are more time-saving for the busy college students. The burden on their shoulders has been aggravated because they are considered as the successors of the country. They have lots of academic assignments to finish and always stay up late to fulfill their potential in schoolwork. Some public opinion also argues that young people nowadays do not have enough time to help their communities, citing the reason that they need to spend almost all of their time studying and there will be little time remaining to help their communities. In this case, time is the key issue.Compared to other activities in primary schools and nursing houses, building a house is much quicker. People tend to finish all the work in a specific period instead of fragmentary days. By building a house, the club members are doing a more critical thing without the worries of interrupting their school life and decline in grades.
In conclusion, the examples and reasons above mentioned can demonstrate that helping people who cannot afford to build or rent a home to build a house is the ideal choice among all the projects university students can do.
